RN Quality Improvement Team DMHA (9496)

Description

This position will serve as the medical lead on the Private Mental Health Institution Team within the Quality Improvement Team. This team will provide quality review and technical assistance to Private Mental Health Institutions. This position will serve as the medical subject matter expert on the PMHI Team to ensure that site visits, reporting, Corrective Action Plans, and other necessary tasks are completed efficiently and adequately. This position will assist with the development of ongoing monitoring processes related to medical quality review. This position will provide medical oversight of complaints and critical incident reporting of PMHI settings to ensure that there is adequate follow up and that follow up is completed in appropriate timeframes. This position will work with QI Team on the development of training and technical assistance initiatives for DMHA providers as it relates to medical competencies within Indiana Code. This position is critical in managing the quality of DMHA providers. This position will further allow for the capacity of the division to adequately provide oversight and technical assistance to DMHA providers.

Responsibilities

  •  Serves as the medical subject matter expert for all PMHI site visits, complaints, and critical incidents.
  • Serves as the medical subject matter expert on Incident Review Committee meetings and prepares reports or documents required for meetings.
  • Analyzing policies and procedures writes responses to inquiries from providers, families, other agencies, and the public as needed.
  • Provide training, oversight, and coordination of provider visits at as required to complete designated activities and  tasks.
  • Serves as the chief medical investigator on complaints and critical incidents.
  • Represents Quality Improvement Team in conference calls and provide any written documentation requested DMHA staff that is needed for quarterly or annual reports, as needed.
  • Collaborates closely with State Staff and community stakeholders to revise initiatives, training material, websites ,and communication documents annually or as needed; including maintaining current information on the designated websites;  Facilitate training, implementation  and compliance activities per program requirements.
  • Responsible for writing and updating policies and procedures for all initiatives as needed; 
  • Monitor implementation progress and outcomes and implement improvement plans as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.    
  • Reviews all incoming medical policy or procedural information for decisions on distribution;
  • Review Indiana Code, Rule, contractual agreements for relevant medical impact on quality improvement team
  • Regular monitors and responsible for updating QI Team of changes with Joint Commission and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities accreditation standards, as well as, other accrediting bodies of DMHA programming to monitor the align with DMHA policy.
  • Management of medical quality review processes, complaint processes, and critical incident reporting processes;
  • Acts as technical consultant to quality improvement team, clarifying and interpreting all procedures, providing references and resolving disputed issues.
  • Serves as a liaison between agency and entities.
