Systems Admin Intermediate – Configuration Management (2240)
Implements, documents, and maintains Configuration Management Database (CMDB) system. Assists other departments and entities with their integrations to the CMDB. Assists with support of related systems as needed.
The CMDB administrators will be responsible for working with a vendor to install, configure, document, and maintain a CMDB system. This system will be configured to actively search all areas of our network for all connected devices of any type. This individual will be responsible for ensuring proper scanning and identification of all devices, identifying rogue devices and reporting them, developing and maintaining procedures and other documentation for administration and governance of the CMDB system, understanding and documenting application mapping using the CMDB system and other tools, providing assistance to other teams and entities which integrate with the CMDB system, and maintaining any other additional functions of our CMDB system. After the CMDB is installed, configured, documented, and has gathered information about connected devices, there will be a heavy focus on the application mapping function to identify and document all application ecosystems. The position may be asked to participate in providing future audit results derived from the CMDB system.
It is imperative that this person is able to communicate clearly in both written and verbal form, that they are willing to actively find and reach out to contacts as necessary to complete their tasks. The position will be required to communicate via Teams, by phone, and occasionally in person. The position will require heavy documentation skills, so a proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite is required.
After the project for CMDB installation, configuration, and documentation is completed, including application mapping, the position will take on additional duties to assist with supporting other functions within the Operational Security team.
Bachelor of Science in Computer Technology and/or 3 to 5 years of experience in a CMDB administrator or systems administrator role. Must possess thorough knowledge of information technology systems to include hardware, software, and their impact on the various components and their capabilities. Must have the ability establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with others.
It is essential this individual have knowledge and experience with CMDB systems (experience specifically with Device42 is a plus), server and workstation hardware, basic network topology, DNS, an understanding of Ports and protocols, various software installations, and software licensing.
Additional experience within the following areas is also beneficial: F5/BigIP, DigiCert or other SSL certificates, Cloudflare or other CDN providers, Thycotic or other PAM providers, SCOM, SCCM, and AppDynamics.
